1st edition, 1st impression (true first, 1948). Original mid blue cloth boards with black lettering to spine and cover. Illustrated endpapers and numerous line illustrations throughout, including full page two-colour illustrations. Boards crisp & clean with very slight rubbing to extremities. Top edge discoloured and occasional light foxing to fore-edge. Pages crisp and clean with very occasional spotting. No inscription. Dust jacket lightly chipped and rubbed at edges and head and base of spine. Spine tanned from shelf exposure. Dust jacket now protected in removable, transparent protective sleeve of archival quality. Correctly listed as a last five adventure on rear inside flap of dust jacket. A very nice copy, rare to find surviving in such good condition.
