1st edition, 1st impression (true first, 1945). 272pp. Orange cloth-covered boards with silver gilt lettering to spine. Boards a little faded at edges and rounded at corners. Clean, square and tight. DJ chapped at edges, faded on folds and with small loss at head of spine and 1.5 inch loss at base of spine. Still attractive. Being published in 1945, this book was produced to war economy standards. DJ now protected in archival quality removable protective sleeve (photo taken prior to fitting cover so show detail of condition of jacket). Part of the Hornblower series.
