First edition, first impression. 252pp. 12mo. 15 monochrome plate illustrations. Original orange cloth boards, with silver gilt vignette on front, bumped at head and heal of backstrip and v. faint stain on front. Unclipped dust jacket, v lightly chipped at corners and head and heal of backstrip. Front free endpaper inscribed "To Rita, with much love, Noel, 1957". The recipient was Rita Smith who, for many years, was the author's secretary and typist. Jacket design by Dick Hart. DJ now protected in archival quality clear film sleeve.
