1st ed, 1st imp. 224pp. Numerous b/w illustrated in text. Black cloth boards with silver titles to spine. One corner of front board is veyr slightly rubbed. DJ near fine with minor shelfwear only. The eruption of Laki in June 1783 is one of history's great untold natural disasters. The Icelandic volcano spewed out a poisonous fog that lasted for 8 months but its effects across Europe lingered far longer. It caused the death of people as far away as the Nile and created famine that played into the French Revolution.
