1st ed, 1st imp: true first. In blue tweed boards (rubbed and faded), with second state silhouette on cover and desirable digger endpapers. Contains all 25 chapters (later printings and editions were revised to include only 20 chapters). Previous owner's inscription on reverse of fly leaf (quite long and not all that tidy, as typical of children's markings). This book is not in collectable condition, with a few scattered markings. It is homely rather than prim. It is however clean, square, tight and robust and would make a lovely hand-me-down or vintage gift. This is a hard to find edition rather than scarce or rare.
