256pp. Presumed 1st UK edition following publication in the US in 1945, Blue cloth covered boards with vignette on front cover and black titles to spine. Colour plate frontispiece, four further full page illustrations and drawing in text. Cloth faded in patches, rubbed and rounded at corners. Mildly shaken. Previous owners inscription on endpaper. Dust jacket chapped all round with loss on leading corner and around head of spine, creased and tears but still showing key picture of the black stallion.
