56pp. Red leatherette boards with gilt lettering and decoration. Art Deco illustrated endpapers. Colour plate frontis and 11 further colour plate illustrations of old Canterbury and its environs. Boards a little rubbed at edges with minor loss at base of spine. Previous owner's name inscribed. An attractive and interesting volume: neither really a history of the city, nor a guide book, it will suffice as both. More it was intended as a memorial or keepsake for the thousands of tourists and pilgrims who visited (and still do) the city each year. Now particularly interesting for the images and detail it gives of Canterbury over a hundred years ago. It looks particularly at the city, the Cathedral and other monastic buildings in the area. Part of Blackie and Son's Beautiful England series.
