A Collins Mystery publication. 1st thus (first published in 1947). 192pp. Brown cloth boards (a little faded in edges, rounded at spine tips). Library lending sheet on front endpaper. In its original vintage dust jacket (a little rubbed at edges, red mark along rear fold, still clean and bright). Written before the Nuremburg Trials, Cheyney foresaw the beginnings of the Nazi post-war Secret Societies, and their efforts to wreak a sort of revenge on their war time opposite numbers. The action of Cheyney's 'Dark' novels was always time-fused to go off on the day of publication, and during the second world war were a thorn in side of the German forces. Super vintage copy.
