312pp. Green cloth boards with decorative rules (a little rubs at extremities, a few minor marks, beginning to fray at spine ends). Previous owner's name in pencil on front free endpaper. Internally neat, clean, bright and tight barring occasional foxing. The author of "Chantry Lands" gives nostalgic reminiscences of his childhood in Whiston and nearby Treeton, here fictionalised as Sorrelsykes and Gildingside, though anyone familiar with the area will have little difficulty in locating themselves. Chapters on Spa House (Spaw House), Beer, Hawthornbarrow Hall, Thorneyhedge Farm etc.
