A few marks on pages, one leaf has short - less than an inch - tear. In its original worn and edge-nicked dust jacket (shelf wear on verso). Dust jacket now in an archival-quality mylar wrapper to protect & prolong the life of the jacket. It is not adhered to the book or to the dust jacket. A first edition (novel published later in the same year in the US under the title The Secret of the Lake House) mystery story featuring the author's recurrent character, Dr Priestley. John Rhode was a pen name for Cecil John Street, who also wrote as Miles Burton and Cecil Waye. Uncommon title, very hard to find in its first edition, especially complete with its original dust jacket.
