252pp. Monochrome plate frontispiece (by L Parker) with further decorations and illustrations in text. Illustrated blue cloth boards with four colour printing and gilt finishes. Spine Illustration. Boards rubbed at edges and a little mottled. Spine sunned. Prize plate on front endpaper indicating the volume was awarded to Nancy Brown at Holyhead Hall for high marks at Sunday School in 1922. Endpapers a little tanned and mild spotting. An intriguing, if heavily moralised, fictional account of a child's experiences of the inquisition in Spain and Holland: the book opens with Mayken Karlzon birthday in May 1565. Hard to find title. Lovely decorative cloth binding.
