First cheap edition (following first publication, also by Jarrolds, in 1943. 160pp. Red cloth boards. 8vo. Worn at edges and joints, rounded at corners and spine ends. Library lending sheet on front endpaper else no other library markings. A little spotting to well-thumbed pages. In its original, period, dust jacket (rubbed and a little chapped at edges, chipped over spine, small stains on verso, old interior tape repairs across spine). Dust jacket now in archival-quality Mylar wrapper fitted without tape or adhesives. Very hard to find title from this popular mystery and thriller writer of the mid 20th century. Published later in the US under the title Dark Rainbow.
