256pp. Rich red endpapers. Occasional decorations in text. Pictorial cloth boards (immaculate). Internally neat, clean, bright and tight. In its original, striking dust jacket with a 'secret key hole'. A lovely volume in fine condition throughout, which rediscovers little known gems of bookish history, such as Charles Dickens' wife and her cookbook written under the name Lady Maria Clutterback, and the fact that the only one of Edgar Allan Poe's books to make money in his lifetime was a non-fiction work on snails.
