Not dated but recent re-issue. A facsimile reproduction from the British Library's historical collection of Volume II of William White's The Inner Life of the House of Commons, reproducing the 1897 edition. White was a principal doorkeeper in the House of Commons and the volume records his views and experiences of witnessing some of the most momentous moments in late 19th century politics in England, from the Brazil debate to the Great Reform Bill, the debates and rivalry between Gladstone and Disraeli, the Irish Question to Sir Robert Peel on the front benches, the censure of the Government over foreign policy and the State Openings of Parliament. Also lots of details about how the House of Commons worked then. A soft cover volume of 222pp, with very gentle edge wear to card covers.
