No. 29 in the Ariel Poems series. No.34 in a signed edition limited to 400 copies. 16pp. Signed by the author on the half-title (signed both as George Russell and 'A E'. Case bound in grey card (boards a little worn at edges and small chips at corners). Two lithograph plates by Paul Nash, one in colour. Printed on handmade paper. Russell adopted the name � from � on signifying the lifelong quest of man. A Dublin-born author, critic, and painter, � met Yeats through James Joyce in 1902 and practiced theosophy and mysticism throughout his adult life. He claimed to be clairvoyant and conversant with spiritual beings, which he illustrated in his paintings and drawings. An Irish Nationalist, his first volume of poetry, 'Homeward: Songs by the Way' (1894) established him also as a central figure in the Irish Literary Revival.
