Complete in three volumes. Original deep green cloth with gilt lettering and gilt decoration on spine, gilt vignettes in blind stamped decorative borders to the upper covers. Elephant Folio. Remarkably clean and bright. All three volumes have mild fraying to head of spine, and lightly rubbed on corners. All three volumes have labels on front paste down indicating the volumes once belonged to one William J Clarke - labels have impressed in front free endpapers, and occasional small stamps indicating there were once in the possession of Scarborough public library - accession stamps on copyright page, else no other markings. A beautiful, well preserved set, fresh, clean and bright internally, firmly bound, square and sharp. 232 tissue-guarded colour plates, with accompanying textual descriptions and notes.
