1st edition. [i] 107pp [1] with 12 tissue-guarded, full page, black and white engravings by the Brothers Dalziel. Red cloth boards, blind embossed and gilt titles and decoration (heavily rubbed at edges, scuffed and rounded at corners, fraying spine ends, and short crack in cloth on spine fold, faded). Internally some minor spotting and toning, some page corners folded in. Binding weakening. Plates clean and neat, although some minor spotting on tissue guards. A rare children's story - a very early take on fantasy/science fiction, reworking the well-known Raspe character. Very hard to find title. We have more books by Charles Henry Bennett in stock.
