Mammoth volume. xxiv, 818pp, with 343 engravings on wood and eight colour plates, including frontispiece. Bound in full calfskin leather, with blind embossed and gilt decorations and lettering, five raised bands on spine separating gilded panels. All edges marbled. Marbled endpapers (Boards show a few marks, worn at edges, scuffed through on corners, cracked on spine joints, with short tear at head of spine. Gutters cracked on front and rear endpapers, the latter coming away. Still a good strong volume, best for reading and research though rather than prettiness (although the plates and engravings are all clean and bright and a joy to behold. A large and heavy volume which will require an additional charge for overseas shipping.
