iv, 724 [4] pages, numerous full page engraved illustrations, 12 fold out songs with lyrics and music. Quarter bound in calfskin leather over card covered boards, five raised bands to spine, (front board detached, heavily worn all round, cracked and chipped away at edges, corner leather eroded and spine leather dry and cracked at joints and spine tips, softened and scuffed at corners). Internally, previous owner's name on front endpaper, in copperplate hand (reads Ann Skevington, No. 11, Yeaverly), pages toned, some with small chips and creases at edges, some spotting, some fold outs have been mis-folded upon return, a few strained gutters. Generally clean and binding holding firm. Volume XXII of the Lady's Magazine, comprising all 12 monthly issues published in 1791. Each issue contains a selection of articles regarding history and world events, customs and opinions, political reflections, foreign news, home news, serialised novels and tales, letters and correspondence and poetical essays. Other articles which feature in this bound volume include 'Handy Habits to be Acquired in Infancy'; Miseries of Solitude'; 'On the Use of Animal Food and Sugar'; 'Essay on the Expression of St Paul'; 'Essay on Laughter'; 'Character of English Ladies'; 'Queen Ann Bullen's Last Letter to King Henry'; etc. Does not have the fashion plates present in some editions. Thick 8vo. A heavy volume which may require an additional charge for overseas delivery.
