36pp. Brochure with colour printed, illustrated paper covers produced to accompany the 1911 Circuit of Britain Air Race. Covers are scuffed and creased, with a few short tears around spine. Originally stitched, now disbound. Pages have been well-thumbed but basically clean and complete. A remarkably scarce survival marking an important landmark in aviation history. Packed with contemporary advertisements, the programme give details of the race, organised by the Royal Aero Club, including officials, particulars of prizes, rules and regulations, details of starting point - Brooklands Aerodrome - and stopping points, plans of aerodromes, notes and photographs of each of the 19 aviator competitors, and notes on the types and descriptions of the aeroplanes. The prize, 10,000 provided by the Daily Mail, would be worth over a 1 million today.
