52pp, plus 16 guarded, mounted albumen prints. In a later binding, strong red cloth boards with original front cover cloth and decoration tipped on. Boards in very good condition, with just gentle rubbing at spine tips. Internally there is a blemish on the front endpaper, consistent with a bookplate having been removed, a mild stain at base of spine throughout (not affecting text or images), a few mild marks on pages, and one leave loose. Faint occasional spotting on prelims. Theophilus Smith was a sculptor and early photographer. This is the first of his photographically-illustrated books on Sheffield and its surrounding areas. A very hard to find volume.
