Fifth printing. Translated from the original French of Alphonse Karr. xii, 332pp plus 8pp of advertisements. 117 illustrations drawn by William Harvey and engraved by the Brothers Dalziel. Navy cloth-covered boards with blind embossed and gilt design and text on spine and covers. Mild rubbing of the spine ends. Front corners turned in. Slightly shaken, gutter torn half way at front end papers and stretched mid way through, otherwise internally neat and clean. Alphonse Karr (1808-1890) was a French novelist, brilliant journalist and critic. 'Voyage Autour de Man Jardin' was published in 1845, this generously illustrated translation is set out in 59 letters. 12mo.
