Not dated but likely c 1910. Quarter cloth portfolio with three cloth ties, containing 2pp title and contents listing around 26 loose-leaf plates (some colour, some monochrome) depicting a selection of alphabets and numerals from the mediaeval era, including that taken from the tomb of Gundreda, sister of William the Conqueror in Southover Church, Lewes, c 1085; and from a pontificate of John II, Archbishop of Treves, c 1480; and several from manuscripts held by the British Museum. Boards and cloth ties a little worn; title page browned, and some mild browning in margins of plates, not affecting lettering. [Oversized]
