Gilt text block edges; inner gilt dentelles. Faded brushwork on end papers. Previous owner's label on front paste down. Foxing to very early prelim pages. Otherwise, internally clean, neat and tight. A collection of essays, short stories, local descriptions and poems by young men who were members of the Society of Friends (Quakers). Several members of the Society of Friends met in Newcastle upon Tyne, England, in 1831 to discuss the possible publication of a literary annual. They sought submissions throughout the following year and published the Aurora Borealis. Very hard to find volume. 16mo
