26pp stapled booklet in stiff card covers, black and white illustrations. (covers somewhat soiled and water marked but still strong). Internally neat, clean, bright and tight. Gives an account of the history of Knaresborough and guide to local sites such as the Dropping Well and St Robert's Cave as well as an overview of local services and facilities. Lots of contemporary advertisements. The booklet is undated but there is reference to a fundraising event for the local hospital having taken place in 1939 and to plans for a repeat in 1940. Lovely vintage guide with period illustration on front cover, giving a glimpse of the town as it was immediately before the outbreak of the second world war.
