Eighth, illustrated edition. With illustrated frontispiece, title page vignette and 24 further monochrome illustrations, all by Reginald B Birch. Pictorial green boards, printed over in two colours with gilt finishing on front and spine. Bevelled edges (boards a little worn at edges, frayed at spine ends and a few mild marks). Decorated endpapers. Previous owner's inscription on front free endpaper, dated 1921. Also a small bookseller's ticket on paste down, indicating the book was once in the stock of W Whitely, bookseller, of Westbourne Grove. Gutters cracking between endpapers, else internally bright, neat and clean. All illustrations present as called for. A handsome, solid volume of this all time classic children's story. Approximately 8.5 inches tall.
