201pp. Illustrated with sketches and line drawings by the author. In cream cloth-covered boards with brown lettering and vignette on front (boards slightly rounded at spine ends). Internally a couple of wavy leaves else neat, clean, bright and tight. Small booksellers sticker to front pastedown. In its original illustrated dust jacket (lightly bumped at edges, a little shelf wear visible). The author finds villagers just as forthcoming as the Boat People in volume I. The author spent his whole career in the Army, serving much of the time in China and, during the first world war, in Hong Kong and later Peking.
