First British Edition. Undated (translation notes dated January 1878). 78pp; magnificent woodcuts (including fold-out frontispiece, 18pp adverts. Green cloth-covered boards; black design and gilt titles on front, gilt titles on spine. 8vo. General wear to boards, Bumped spine ends, cloth wearing through. Corners bumped, cloth wearing. Water stains on endpapers. Binding loose; but volume still strong. Internally neat, clean and bright. No dust jacket, likely as issued. Originally written in French and translated by Mrs. R F Sketchley.
