Jedehiah Strutt of South Normanton was the inventor of the Derby Rib Machine which revolutionized one branch of the hosiery trade. This biography draws on previously unpublished material and includes chapters on Strutt's community buidling at Belper and Milford - where Samuel Slater, called founder of the American Cotton Industry, served as Strutt's apprentice.
