viii, 154pp. In decorative brown cloth boards with gilt titles, top edge gilded (boards a little worn, rubbed on corners and spine ends, spine sunned, one small scuff on front boards, similar on rear). Previous owner's name. dated 1858, on the front free endpaper, else internally neat, clean and bright. A couple of strained gutters, making the binding a little soft. A detailed, pocket-sized book of Church history, based on Rev W Palmer's monumental Compendious Ecclesiastical History, render into 'a useful manual for schools and families in as small a compass as the subject would permit, and at such a price as to render it generally accessible'.
