23rd edition. Not dated but circa1940. 192pp plus 42pp of contemporary advertisements at rear, sixty illustrations, and completed with coloured fold-out map of the area. In red cloth boards (a little worn at edges, faded, cloth cracked at spine base, a couple of small indentations). Internally neat and clean barring some spotting and some scuffing inside front cover. Binding is fragile but holding. There is a slip from the publisher's bound in, which states 'The Publishers regret that owing to War-time difficulties, it is not at present possible to include the customary complete set of maps and plans in the Guide'. A detailed guide for visitors to the Lake District, covering railway routes and facilities (1940s style), cycling, walking tours, climate, seasonal information, geology, history, the Lakes, Mountain groups, Lakeland Sports and Amusements, Walking Routes, etc., and a special section for motorists.
