First edition, first printing. xvi, 236pp, portrait plate frontispiece, illustrated with photographs and musical quotations. In fawn cloth boards with gilt lettering on spine, upper edge sprayed red (boards are strong, square, sharp and clean). Internally neat, clean, bright and tight. In its original dust jacket (a little bumped along upper edge with some minor chipping and loss at head of spine. 8vo.
