92pp; fold-out map, 14 black and white plates (inc. frontispiece). Blue cloth-covered boards, gilt titles on spine. Lightly bumped spine ends, rubbed. The front cover of the dust jacket has been removed and adhered to the front pastedown for preservation. Signed and inscribed by author on front free endpaper, 'For Mrs. K. G. Sutton with best wishes from the author, Arthur C. Murray (Elibank)'. Adhered to the front free endpaper alongside a long note by the author is a newspaper cutting. Edges of plates sun faded. Internally neat, clean, bright and tight. No dust jacket. 8vo. Shortly after this book was published the Admiralty ordered 136 copies of it from the publishers for distribution to ships in the Royal Navy.
