xii, 224pp, with tissue-guarded colour plate frontispiece and three further colour plates showing coloured groupings of flowers. In red cloth-covered boards with black stamped decorations, gilt titles on front and gilt-framed lettering on spine, all edges gilt (boards moderately rubbed and rounded at corners, spine ends and more gently along joints, slightly fraying at spine ends, cloth mildly darkened and a few mild marks). Front free endpaper has been neatly removed, some occasional spotting throughout. Tyas, perhaps the most influential author in stimulating the Victorian passion for botanical drawings and the symbolism of flowers, first produced this work in 1869. This 1875 edition features four colour botanical illustrations whereas the original had many more but still a pretty volume.
