First edition, first printing. 645pp plus extensive central section of black and white plate illustrations. Black cloth boards with silver titles and decoration on spine (boards very slightly rounded at spine ends). Previous owner's name, neatly written, on the front free endpaper, which also has narrow strip of tanning, as does rear endpaper, else internally neat, clean, bright and tight. In its original edge worn dust jacket; short, flat crack running from spine head and a couple of short, flat creases. Dust jacket now protected in a Brodart-style protective sleeve, fitted without the use of tape or adhesives. 12 mo.
