Not dated but circa 1950s. 236pp, numerous maps in text. In green cloth-covered boards with black titles on spine. 8vo. Gently rounded at spine tips.. Top edge dust darkened, else neat, clean, bright and tight. In its original, pictorial dust jacket (lightly chapped along top edge, gentle rubbing on other edges, some patchy browning on edges and inner flaps). Dust jacket now protected in a Mylar wrapper, fitted without the use of tape or adhesives. A friendly, intimately written book, in no sense intended to an accurate guide to the English counties. It consists, rather, of a series of disconnected reminiscences of journeys by car through the most interesting parts of the country.
