1st edition, first printing. 194pp, colour plate frontispiece and numerous further black and white plate illustrations throughout, maps at rear. In blue cloth-covered boards with gilt titles on spine (cloth a little rubbed and rounded at corners and spine tips, a little faded). Hint of toning on text block edges and endpapers only, else neat, clean, bright and tight. Previous owner's inscription, dated 1952, on front free endpaper. In its original, pictorial dust jacket (slightly bumped and chipped on edges, chapped and creased at head of spine, with minor loss). Dust jacket now protected in a Mylar wrapper, fitted without the use of tape or adhesives. An intelligent and appreciate survey of the landscape, history and character of the islands around the coasts of England and Wales - Anglesey, the Channel Islands, Lundy, Isle of Wight, Hayling, Brownsea, St Michael's Mount etc. 8vo.
