Bumped spine ends and corners. Visible shelf wear. Illustrative Endpapers. Prelim pages starting to fox. Tiny little pinprick indentation to first few pages at outer margin. Signed and inscribed by author on half-title page 'To my good friend and neighbour Mrs. Jisbella Lyth G. Bernard Shaw - Ayot St. Lawrence 15th June 1944'. (Jisbella Lyth was the legendary village postmistress of Ayot St. Lawrence, upon whom Shaw based a character in the play Village Wooing, played on stage by Sybil Thorndyke.) Internally neat, clean, bright and tight. Housed in a custom made dark blue cloth box (somewhat mottled) with gilt titles to spine. A collection of short stories, the title story being a satirical allegory relating the experiences of an African black girl who takes literally the biblical teaching to 'seek and you shall find me'.
