[1834-35] Unpaginated [150pp], plus 40 tissue-guarded, mounted steel engravings. Bound in blind embossed strong, brown buckram cloth with gilt titles on spine. All edges gilt. Tall 8vo. Boards a little rubbed at edges, rubbed and rounded on corners and spine tips, spine a little sunned, a few mild marks. Internally there's a little occasional spotting and some sparse, mild toning on plate mounts. Armorial bookplate on the front paste down, indicating that the volume was once in the possession of Colonel C A G Wallington. Wallington (died 1867) was a military officer with the East India Company, serving with the Bengal Infantry.
Originally issued in parts, the preface to this collection is intriguingly largely concerned with the conduct of the artist, J M W Turner, in the preparation of the volume. Artists upon whose works the engravings are based include Augustus Pugin, J M W Turner, J Bentley et al. This volume contains the engraving of Margaret which is apparently absent from some copies.
