vi, [2], 346pp, [2], with an etched portrait. No 73 of the Large Paper Edition, limited to 150 copies. In green cloth boards with gilt lettering on spine. Top edge trimmed, else deckled edges. Boards a little rubbed with some minor indentations on edges and gentle rounding at corners spine tips. Light tanned on endpapers, previous owner's name, dated 1898, on front free endpaper, else internally neat, clean, bright and tight. Two etched portraits of David Garrick loosely laid in, the larger one presumably issued with the volume. Also laid in is a newspaper clipping discussing an art exhibition of the collection built up in the late 17th and early 18th centuries at Carlton House, including Hogarth's 'David Garrick and his Wife'. A handsome and evocative vintage volume, a full biography drawing on primary sources of the actor David Garrick.
