xx, 440pp. An unnumbered presentation copy to H G Atkin 'whose generous assistance made this publication possible', detailed on a presentation plate on the front paste down, which is signed by Sir Julian Gascoigne, the Company's Colonel Commandant. Colour plate frontispiece portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Numerous black and white photographic illustrations, complete with three fold out maps/charts. In full black leather with gilt stamped motif and gilt lettering on spine. Marbled endpapers, silk ribbon marker bound in. Top edge sprayed black. There's some very gentle rounding to corners of covers, and the silk ribbon marker is a tad frayed at end else in fine condition throughout. A comprehensive history of the Honourable Artillery Company, the oldest Regiment in the British Army and the second most senior Reserve unit, during the second world war, including an explanation of the origins of the Company's tradition of using 'Regimental Fire'' instead of 'Three Cheers'.
