First edition, first printing. vi, 366pp with 12 monochrome plate illustrations. In black cloth-covered boards with gilt titles on spine. 8vo. Cloth on boards with a little worn, marked on verso and gently rubbed on corners and spine ends, spine mildly sunned. Some mild and occasional spotting on text block edges and endpapers; previous owner's inscription on front free endpaper, which is a little tanned, else internally neat, clean, bright and tight. In its original dust jacket, gently bumped on edges and slightly chipped at spine ends, and now protected in a Brodart-style wrapper, fitted without the use of tape or adhesives.
