First edition. 240pp. Blue cloth-covered boards with gilt titles on spine. 8vo. Spine ends lightly rubbed and rounded. Text block edges lightly foxed. Lender's stamp on front prelims; evidence of label on front free endpaper; rear pastedown has some glue remnants. Internally, some very occasional spotting otherwise neat, clean, bright and tight. Dust jacket protected by Brodart style sleeve, shelf number on spine, stain to spine head and adjacent covers. The warm and loving memoirs when the author, as a young lad, went to work on a farm. "Stop darting about like one o' they blue-arsed flize and larn ter walk soft in the fold!" said the old shepherd. By listening, watching and working in patience and gentleness, he came to master the old man's skill and cunning.
