382pp. In illustrated, laminated card covers. 8vo. Covers are worn at edges with a little curling, affecting some page edges too, with a few small and mild marks. Internally neat, clean and tight barring gift inscription inside front cover. Every conscript in the second world war was made aware he was part of a shower, and told so often by Sergeant-Instructors. At the time of Dunkirk, certain units of the British Army were ordered to hold Calais; among them was the regular army unit, the 2nd Battalion Kings Royal Rifle Corps (60th Rifles). Left to their fate, they were all destroyed or over-run. This is one conscript's account of the reforming of the battalion and subsequent service with the battalion over the next five years. Privately printed, presumably in small numbers, a very hard to find title.
