209pp with occasional maps and illustrations. In brown cloth-covered boards with silver titles on spine. 8vo. Boards gently rubbed and rounded at corners. Internally neat, clean, bright and tight. In its original dust jacket, slightly bumped at edges and a little faded around spine. Risley's diaries, of which this is the is the first part covering the years 1835 to 1848, are far from confined to the day-to-day doings of the north Oxfordshire parish of Deddington, where he was the clergyman but do show much of the local history of the area.
