First edition. 216pp, with eight full colour plates, one of which folds out, nearly 250 further photographs and drawings, bright red illustrated endpapers. Quarter bound in cloth over pictorial boards. Small 4to. Covers moderately rubbed at edges, rounded at corners and spine ends, with some shelf wear. Small corner crease to front free endpaper, a little faint and occasional spotting on prelims, else neat, clean and tight. Gives a patriotic overview of the history of the British Regular Army, starting with Cromwell's New Model Army but largely focussing on the 20th century.
