New edition. xii, 420pp, with numerous vignettes and woodcut illustrations in text. Fully rebound (by Stoakley's of Cambridge) in red calfskin leather, decorated with blind rules and gilt embellishments, five raised bands on spine, marbled text block edges, marbled endpapers. Title page in red and black, with vignette 12mo. Boards gently rubbed at corners and spine tips, top third of rear joint cracked, a little shelf wear. Some spotting on prelims only. Bookbinders small, discreet stamp on front free endpaper verso. A very attractive volume, handsomely and extravagantly bound, of this classic work on the birds of Britain.
