First UK edition, first printing. 340pp. Bound in grey cloth-covered boards with blue and red titles on spine. Top edge sprayed red. 8vo. Boards very slightly rounded at spine tips. Internally neat, clean, bright and tight barring a hint of toning on endpapers. . In its original dust jacket, worn, torn, creased; cracked and faded on spine, with some minor loss in places. Mackinlay Kantor (born Benjamin McKinlay Kantor), 1904-1977, was an American journalist, screenwriter and novelist, writing more than thirty novels, several set during the American Civil War. He was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction for his 1955 novel, Andersonville.
