In blue cloth-covered boards, blind embossed design on front, gilt titles on spine. Boards a little faded, especially at lightly rubbed corners and spine tips. Some spotting on text block edges. Gift inscription on front free endpaper, else internally neat, clean, bright and tight. In its original worn and torn dust jacket, with minor loss at edges in places, lightly sunned over spine, shelf wear visible on verso, a little spotting. No 56 in the Everyman's Library series.
