First edition, second printing. 328pp, 16pp, with black and white engraved illustrations based on the author's own sketches. In pictorial cloth-covered boards. Decorative endpapers. 12mo. Boards a little rubbed and rounded at corners and spine ends, a little sunned over spine, small white mark on front panel and a few scattered black (ink?) marks on rear panel. Endpapers a little toned, front hinge cracked, with previous owner's name on front free endpaper. There are some pencils notes on blank pages and contents page explaining the origins of the book and one reader's reaction to it. Provides a somewhat one sided history and description of Barbados, Jamaica, Trinidad, Tobago, Cuba, Dominica, St Vincent, etc.
